Wanda Sykes Takes Over Late Night TV
Funny lady Wanda Sykes might be a huge supporter of President Obama, but that hasn’t stopped her from rubbing elbows and teaming with Fox-TV, the family member of Fox News who doesn’t support the prez, for a late-night gig.
This fall, Sykes replaces Spike Feresten’s Saturday night time slot to host a show that will be a cross between the styles of HBO’s Bill Maher to E!’s Chelsea Handler, where she will use skits and panels to comment on the week’s news, but no booking of musical guests. The hope is that the Emmy winner’s show will help make the parent company, News Corporation’s, a power player of sorts in the late-night arena.
Despite the fact that conservative media giant Rupert Murdoch owns the network, Sykes says “nothing is off limits.”
