The show was very entertaining as usual. The most notable performances, or those worth sticking around to watch, are as follows:

1. Ciara - Amazing choreography. I’m not normally a fan because of her less than stellar singing, but the performance reminded me of vintage Janet Jackson or Aaliyah. I also noticed tons of confidence. She actually performed as an artist instead of just trying to count her dance moves in her head.

2. Mo’nique - Another year, another Beyonce parody. I give her points for creativity. Who ever thought they’d wanna see big girls strut their stuff? Even Beyonce had to give her seal of approval on this one.

3. Robin Thicke - He was just too smooth. You think you’ve seen him perform the same song enough times, but there was something slightly different about this one. It’s great to see him from behind the keyboard, dancing no less. This version was sped up a bit and had more of a jazzy, rhumba feel to it.

4. Dedication To Gerald Levert - Eddie Levert, Yolanda Adams, Gladys Knight, & Patti Labelle did a great job of “Wind Beneath My Wings” which Gerald and Eddie had previously recorded. When you gather some of the best singers in the business to perform a song, there’s not much to be said.

5. Tribute To Diana Ross - The tributes are always great. Erykah Badu did waaay better than expected. Chaka Khan’s voice was too strong to sing a Diana Ross song????? She did fine though. It’s always great to have old-school moments when the show’s main focus is hip hop and new “R&B” all night. Her kids are also great.

Notable mention: Diddy, Keyshia Cole, & Lil Kim, although not Diddy’s best award performance, it’s a great song. Ne-Yo, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson & Jennifer Holliday, Public Enemy…I know. I didn’t want a Top 10 list, but they were also great.

Wish I could’ve found footage for all of the performances, but I couldn’t. Oh well.
