Rapper “The Game” in Court on Police Impersonation
Rapper The Game appeared in a New York court on Thursday, charged with impersonating a police officer but a judge ruled that those charges would be dismissed in six months if he stays out of trouble.
The Game, 27, whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, was arrested in November after identifying himself to a private car service driver as an undercover cop and then instructing the driver to drive through a series of red lights, the complaint said.
Lawyers for the rapper said New York police were harassing the Los Angeles-based entertainer.
But after a brief hearing on Thursday at New York State Supreme Court, The Game emerged smiling.
“I love New York, but I hate the system,” he said after the hearing. “But, I hate every system.”
The Game, once a protege of rapper 50 Cent, shot to stardom with his Grammy-nominated debut album The Documentary in 2005.
He still faces three felony charges in California for a February incident in which he is accused of pulling a gun during a basketball game in Los Angeles. If convicted of those charges, he faces up to five years in jail.
