Plies Takes Prison System To Task With New Video, Blog

071016_plies Plies Takes Prison System To Task With New Video, Blog Atlantic Records’ Plies has hit the million mark in ringtone sales with his single, “Shawty.” Keeping count of ringtone sales, and recognizing platinum status is a new phenomenon in the music biz, but recording artists will take credit where they see it. In fact, Plies is taking advantage of the format in a big way, as seven songs on his debut album, Real Testament are on the “Hot Ringmasters” chart.

Platinum ringtones aside, Plies is also doing work to give a voice to those stuck inside the prison system. He recently finished a video for his track, “100 Years.” The song is on his debut album, and examines injustices that occur inside courtrooms and prison walls. Plies spoke about the track saying, “There hasn’t been a record that I can remember over the course of the last 10 years that has touched on the system like this song.”

Plies has also launched Bidlong.com, a new website that features a personal blog from Plies and is intended to be a place for others to post stories about their own experiences. Currently the site features videos from the rapper.

Plies’ debut is in stores now, and he recently stopped by TRL to give them the video for his second single, “Hypnotize.”
