JAY-Z TALKS ABOUT KELLY CLARKSON PAIRING: Plus, Rapper Joins Rihanna for Dinner At Katsuya;
In a blog posting for RapRadar.com, Jay-Z said a few words about the seemingly odd concert bill at the University of Arizona Wednesday evening that featured himself, Kelly Clarkson and Third Eye Blind.
“I thought that had to be the oddest pairing ever, but soon realized it’s what I’ve always professed. There’s NO such thing as Black music or White music only Good or Bad music,” he wrote.
“If you’re African American you can have a Jewish friend,” he said, citing his own friendship with former Def Jam head/current Warner Music CEO Lyor Cohen. “The Jew fro and the BLUEprint fro [Afro] are the SAME thing.”
Jay added that he would like to see diverse concerts such as this happen more often, outside of the one or two festivals per year and big radio station summer concerts like Zootopia, held by New York’s Z-100, among many others.
“I’m putting that into the universe,” Jay blogged, adding, “Next up, [a concert with] Taylor Swift and Uncle Murda!”
Meanwhile, Jay and his current short afro were mobbed by paparazzi the following night as he and Rihanna met five others for dinner at Katsuya Hollywood.
According to People.com, the casually-dressed group dined Thursday on yellowtail with jalapeño, miso cod, and baked crab hand roll, complemented by Houereki sake. A source says Jigga and Ri-ri spent some time discussing their new music, adding, “They had a really good time.”
Outside, Jay-Z avoided all questions from the throng of paparazzi as he left the restaurant. But one query, “Was Chris Brown the origin of the swine flu?,” made him chuckle out loud.
