Eddie Murphy As the Riddler Was A Joke

Most of Eddie Murphy’s non-animated films haven’t exactly been blockbuster, box-office hits in recent years. So when I read yesterday that the “Meet Dave” star was going to play Riddler in an upcoming Batman flick, I knew he would have a sure-fire hit on his hands since the latest Batman installment, “The Dark Knight,” brought in over $530 million.
But the report, in the British tabloid The Sun and picked up by bloggers as if it were gospel, was erroneous, according to ExtraTv.com.
Despite rumors that suggest otherwise, reps for Eddie tell “Extra” the story is “not true” — and that Murphy will not star as the puzzle-happy maniac, played by Jim Carrey in 1995’s “Batman Forever.”
