Michelle Obama better hold tight to her man. A new music video by a scantily-clad woman calling herself “Obama Girl” is the talk of YouTube for the way she professes her “devotion” to the Presidential candidate.

“I Got a Crush on Obama” features actor and model Amber Lee Ettinger lip-synching lyrics written by advertising executive Ben Relles and 21-year-old journalism student Leah Kauffman. It was created as a tongue-in-cheek way to make light of a campaign song contest being run by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

“Hey ‘B’, it’s me. If you’re there pick up, I was just watching you on C-SPAN,” Ettinger says in a voicemail message to Obama at the start of the three minute clip, before bursting in song. [See music video below.]

Ettinger seductively dances in the video wearing cut-off shorts, and at one point shakes her derriere in red panties that have “OBAMA” emblazoned across the butt. Her lyrics include the lines: “At the new Oval office / You’ll get your head of State”; “I cannot wait till 2008 / Baby, you’re the best candidate”; “You’re into border security / Let’s break this border between you and me”; and “You seemed to float on to the floor / Democratic Convention 2004 / I never wanted anybody more than I want you / So I put down my Kerry sign / Now I have to make you mine.”

The video’s popularity has spawned a line of T-shirts and tank tops that read “Obama 08,”  “I got a crush on Obama” and “Obama Girl” logos.

Meanwhile, the popular Democrat has just been confirmed to speak at the 13th Annual Essence Music Festival in New Orleans on Thursday, July 5.  He’s scheduled to address the nation’s largest annual gathering of African-Americans celebrating black music and culture at the Festival’s opening night concert in the Louisiana Superdome.

“I look forward to joining Essence next month at a festival that’s especially meaningful because this year, you’re ‘Coming Home’,” commented Senator Obama. “And I also want to commend Essence for using its festival not just to host some of the nation’s most talented musicians, and not just to celebrate the breadth of achievements by African-Americans, but to help rebuild and renew the greater New Orleans community.”

Mainstage performances for the Essence Music Festival include: Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Ciara, Steve Harvey, Isley Brothers featuring Ronald Isley, Ludacris, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Ne-Yo, The O’Jays with Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill, Lionel Richie, Kelly Rowland, and Robin Thicke.
