The drama won’t end for Tiffany “New York” Pollard.
The star of comedic dating shows “I Love New York” and “I Love New York 2″ says in a telephone chat that she’s still in love with the man she recently selected in the second season of her VH1 series. However, there’s one small hitch in their happiness.
He’s, well, kind of married.
“There’s some kinks and knots in the divorce,” Pollard says, adding that her beau’s wife is “slow” in signing off on all the needed legal papers.
For Pollard, it’s just another trial in her highly dramatic life. She’s been searching for love since being a contestant on VH1’s “Flavor of Love.” When she was rejected there, she was given her own series, “I Love New York,” so she could pick an eligible bachelor for herself. It was one of VH1’s biggest hits.
After that show resulted in a failed relationship, she went back to the drawing board and a whole new line of suitors in “I Love New York 2,” also hot for VH1.
On both shows, Pollard went by the nickname “New York” (after her hometown) and all her suitors were given nicknames, too.
Despite her latest upset, Pollard says she’s confident everything will soon be worked out. She and her man, known to viewers as the rascally “Tailor Made” (real name: George Weisgerber), are looking forward to a life of bliss together.
Or, as blissful as a reality-dating-show couple can get.
Well, for that matter, they’ll be as happy as a single woman and a married man can be, for now.
“I cursed him out so many times for it,” Pollard says of getting caught up in Weisgerber’s divorce drama. “I have cursed out his lawyers over it.
“I’m like, ‘Don’t involve me in this. I have my own issues. Don’t put the lawyers on the phone with me to talk about the progress. I just want to hear when it’s over.’ ”
Yet Pollard insists that Weisgerber is the man for her — the man of her dreams, her soul mate. However, she’s only willing to hold onto her love up to a point.
“I can’t wait years for him (to get a divorce),” she says. “I can wait, maybe, three or four months since he’s such a good guy.”
And after that?
Pollard, who admits she has to be treated like a queen in her relationships, is hedging her bets.
A “New York 3″ would not seem out of the realm of possibility, though the ghetto-sassy Pollard, one of VH1’s most popular stars, insists she will not search for love on-air again.
Pollard says she doesn’t want to pursue an acting career — though some wags say she’s actually an actress anyway and the whole series is just a very funny hoax on viewers. (Allegations that Pollard denies.)
She’s ready to launch a clothing line and consider what is ahead.
Of the men she rejected in “New York 2,” Pollard isn’t having any remorse, though she says a few rejectees are still calling and text-messaging her. Apparently the men can’t get her out of their system.
“I don’t really respond too often,” she says. “They’re like, ‘Hey, honey, how are you doing?’ or ‘Hey, cutie, what’s going on?’
“I think it’s cute, but I definitely try to make sure Tailor Made is OK with it. It drives him crazy when they do it.”
