Default Oprah says 70% of black women are single and she asks whats wrong with black men...?

Shouldn't she ask what is wrong with black women?
I see some black women seeing this question as an opportunity to bash black men.
Its Y/A I expected nothing less
If the statistic was wrong (which I'm sure it is) Why do black women....NVM before the other self haters report me

no bc then she'd be viewed as racist as to imply something is *wrong* with a black woman and she's all about empowering the women, particularly those of her same colour.

Oprah is a Feminist. She's say anything against men. I don't know what she will say to God when HE asks her about her sins.

Yeah, that's what I'd think. Did she explain herself? Of course, maybe they just haven't met you.

Maybe she should ask instead what's wrong with black culture. Fatherless children is the #1 societal ill in this country, in my opinion. White people aren't guilt free, but it's epidemic in black culture.

I think the percentage you're talking about is babies born to unwed black mothers. 70% of black babies today are born out of wedlock. The reasons for this are pretty complex.

i think so
i dint think you can place all the blame on men
i think men and women are equal
and true, in some cases its the mans fault
but in some cases, its the girls fault

That is a great question.

I believe black women are more of the problem than than men. Black women seem to be angry for no reason and drive their good men away because of their terrible attitudes. I know too many good black men who all tell me the same thing and then I end up meeting their women and I would leave as well if I was one of the men because I wouldn't have an attitude around like that. You cannot be a control freak and expect a man to hang around.

It goes back to that women's liberation movement which has destroyed a women's proper place in society which should be at home taking care of their man and this goes for any black or white relationship because it doesn't matter.

there is nothing 'wrong' with either. if you can't find yourself a good black woman or man then look in the mirror when you ask yourself why!

no but seriously...do you really think that its ok that s disproportionate amount of black father's are absent. and let me move this forward before you bring in your next argument...yes some of you will use this as an excuse to move onto white women, but let me tell you something; i live in London which has PLENTY of mixed race children running about. how many of these black fathers of HALF WHITE children are still around either? if the problem is black women they why ain't they staying with their white baby mothers??

i gave a PC answer to this question originally, but i can see that some of you self hating black men are going to talk absolute shi te. so i had to set the record straight. and that is just ONE point btw. education, crime etc springs to mind too but hey...

becky says- thank you for mentioning how a lot of our brothers crave men. and that isn't even a joke.

How does she know that black men is even every black woman's preference. It's not her business if they are single or not and to put a percentage on it is just belittling black women even more.

I think it has to do with both sides. The thing that gets on my nerves is that all of these Black people think it's okay to be someones "baby mama" or "baby's daddy." I think it's slutty to have litters of illegitimate children by various people. It's messing up the gene pool. Why have children if you don't intend to marry that person?

EDIT

βą®§-LMAO, so true. I don't even watch Oprah. That show sucks.

"I don't need a man," which is a common saying on her show repels men, and she doesn't understand that.

Men want someone who is going to be a pleasure to be around, not someone saying, "I don't need a man."

If men say, "I don't need a woman," women don't like it, yet they keep saying negative things about us and then wonder why they can't get someone.

I'm not going to stroke your ego with this one. I don't think that the blame should go either way. Sure some black women may be hard to handle, which makes it more difficult to find a partner, but you can't deny that some (I use that word very loosely) black men in poorer neighborhoods think it's okay to have sex and deny all responsibility for their children.

I don't think black men or black women singularly are the problem. I think it's a combination of both.

Why does a black man necessarily have to go with a black woman. I want to know what's wrong with every other race of men? Why don't they want to date us?
