Wow. Some of those are ACTUALLY good, like Foo Fighters, Weezer, and Nirvana. Alternative Rock, Definitely.

I agree with you for all of them. I's also call Nirvana grunge and NIN industrial.

And yes, Linkin Park is alternative rock, and nothing more. It's unbelievable how many people think Linkin Park is metal.

not all of those are alternative, I see a few which would be considered more of flat out rock, such as animals by nickelback and all that nirvana stuff.

Why don't you get the actual genres from itunes? they have them listed.

Linkin Park are like rap rock
Godsmack and Seether aren't really alternative
Nine Inch Nails are industrial rock.

Genre's shouldn't be a concern when it comes to music. Just listen and enjoy.
Don't be offended or mad is someone says different.

I guess that you could put that all in alternative if you had to put them in one genre. But Sublime is more punk, Nirvana is more grunge then anything, and I'm not sure about other ones, I guess that you could just leave it at alternative instead of going into more detail.

Not ALL of it.... And Learn to spell names right. Its LINKIN PARK, and ALIEN ANT FARM, Godsmack and Nickelback is one word. Lets see Foo Fighters is Alt. Rock, Linkin Park is now Punk Rock, Incubus is Alt. Rock, NIN and Godsmack is Hard Rock, Seether is just rock. Alien Ant Farm is well lame. If you just google each band you will find the Genres pretty quick... But ALL the bands you listed are NOT Alt rock. Only a few.

Well, most is Alternative rock or Hard rock, but Nine inch nails classify themselves as Industrial most of the time.

For such a relatively broad range of music "alternative rock" is a quite suitable genre, yes.

Foo Fighters - Rock :)
Linkin Park - Alternative
Incubus - Alternative Rock :)
Godsmack - Rock
Sublime - Alternative/Reggae/Ska/Punk :)
Finger Eleven - Rock
Nickelback - Pop-Rock
Seether - Alternative Rock
Alien Ant Farm - Alternative/Pop
NIN - Industrial/Rock/Alternative :)
Nirvana - Grunge :)
hoobastank - Alternative/Pop
Puddle of Mudd - Rock/Post-Grunge
Oasis - Alternative
Trapt - Rock
Weezer - Alternative/Rock :)
Soundgarden - Grunge
POD - Christian Rock/Alternative

At least, that's how I would label them. I would add crap on most of them but it is not my place to tell you what to like! :)
BTW, It would have been easier to just put the band names on instead of the names and songs by each. You should also listen to Alice In Chains, Godsmack got their name from one of their songs, and in my opinion AIC is much better.
