| I been having this problem with my 2001 Toyota Camry. I have to drive this vehicle daily to school and to work. I need to find out what is wrong with it. When it is shifted into drive, the engine torques really hard and lurches forward, it almost sounds like its screaming. I would be driving down the highway, and if I'm at a stop light, upon hitting the brakes, smoke will come from my engine.. a large black cloud of smoke :( And it overheats quite a bit, stalls when I go into reverse and I have been having problems with turn signals, headlight function, vibrating from the steering wheel, car braking suddenly by itself what is wrong with my car, I need to know before I take it into the shop, I know it will cost me a fortune... I have taken good care of this car, and all of a sudden all this crap happens??! The car has 430,000 miles on it. Powered by Yahoo Answers |

| it sounds possessed. ive worked on alot of cars and ive never heard of a car stopping on its own. i think that car is toast. seriously, alot of black smoke and a "screaming" noise from the tranny. i hope you have insurance. did you drive into water lately? i suspect water as the culprit. | don't freak. this is what you do. check all your fluids. it sounds like you have no oil in your car. and also don't drive it. sounds like a death trap. then ask all of your friends if they know a mechanic that is honest, this car sounds like a piece. anyways I am thinking as hard as I can. okay the only way I could see the brakes coming on when your driving is excessive vacuum in the brake power booster, also it also sounds like it is running way to rich. is your idle high upon start? does it idle at all. I would take your air filter out. also when you are driving is the check engine on. or flashing? if it flashes don't drive it. if it is steady take it to a shcucks or napa or whatever freakin auto parts store ya got and some dude that works there can come out and diagnose the check engine light for free. also ask tons of questions., ask a Toyota dealer. or take it to a dealer, be very unhappy with your "long lasting Toyota" they have a good name and I think they will try to keep it. if you are a women bring a mechanic guy friend, and your dad. ha ha just try not to let them rip you off. peace Powered by Yahoo Answers |
