Default Modern jazz in the style of Dave Brubeck & Miles Davis? I need suggestions for a gift.?

I need to get a gift for someone. He likes Jazz in the style of Dave Brubeck & Miles Davis, are there other artists who fit in this category? Any suggestions will be deeply appreciated!

If someone likes Miles Davis and Brubeck, he probably has lots of jazz already. Go to your local Barnes and Noble book store. In the music section are listening devices to allow you to hear certain selections of different CDs. Listen to Brubeck and Davis then go to the World Music section and check out those sounds. You may launch this friend into a new type of music completely, and your friend may appreciate this gift immensely. I always loved jazz since the time I heard it on the AM sister station of WAMO, Pittsburgh. That sister station no longer exists, but my heart still belongs to jazz. Discovering new forms of jazz have been a lot of fun over the years. Look at World Music!

Cannonball Adderley did a great album with Bill Evans...I believe it's called "Know what I mean?" It's not that popular so there is a chance he doesn't already have it.

the first answerer had a lot of good artists listed. McCoy Tyner, Vince Guaraldi, Oscar Peterson and Charles Mingus always go over well.
You could ask your local jazz store what the top seller is and give a gift reciept with it...

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Brad Mehldau. His playing always brings Brubeck to mind.
