It only says "songwriter" under his 'Occupation'.

Which means he DOES write his own song.

::EDIT::
His name is mentioned as a songwriter on EVERY song of The Black Album.
The producers are under the "Producer" column right next to the Songwriter column, so Mechanical is not completely right.
He is right about the songwriters of the samples used on the songs.
Look at it like this, imagine you're in a studio w/ your people. You're writing and writing and you're sharing your ideas w/ your people, and their like "oh sh*t Jay, that sh*t is hot, try this line at the end instead"; and he does, then I guess they contributed to writing the song too, as small as they may have, they did.

I see what you're talking about. It's not a reference to who wrote the lyrics. The list of songwriters includes Jay-Z, the producers of the tracks, and the original songwriter of any samples that are used in the tracks.

EDIT JT, the producers are listed in both columns. They're listed under their legal name in the songwriters column.
