Default How much do concert tickets usually cost? And what seats should I get?

I am planning to go to a concert and I have no idea if I can afford it. I don't want to go in the back (no matter how cheap it is) but I don't want to spend 200 dollars either. Does anyone have a rough idea of how much it would cost for what kind of seat? And where should I buy tickets? I am planning to go to either a Jonas Brothers, Cobra Starship, The Academy Is . . ., Finger Eleven, Maroon 5, or Franz Ferdinand concert. Now, I don't even know if these bands are going on tour anytime soon, but I guess that (and price) will contribute to my decision making. Now somebody said that you can buy cheap tickets and just squish your way to the front (like some sort of pit or something) and I have no clue what she's talking about. But if we're allowed to do that, I would love to. Thanks! =)

Depends where, how good seats, and which band, In my opinion you should see none of them, but the tickets will most likely be from 30 to 300 dollars (some "cough gay!" Jonas Brothers concerts cost a lot.)

It really does depend on the band and the venue, over the summer I paid $78 for 18th row tickets for a Jonas Brothers concert.

If you are going to a concert with general admission the tickets will probably be around $40.

Hope this helps!

&& I would strongly suggest going to a Jonas Brothers concert, they put on a great show! :]

most tix these cost around $50 for decent seats...if you want front row...you are going to pay $100 of dollars easy...

the rule with gigs is this......

the closer you get to front row, the more you'll pay
...simple math.

here look at this site and you'll see an idea of what you are going to pay to see these bands

All the things you have mentioned - band playing, seat placement, size of venue (place where the show is) - all factor into the cost of your ticket, so if you don't know who you are going to see or where you are going to see them it's going to be hard for people to give you advice.

You can go the those band's websites and check their tour schedule for a list of dates and places to see when/if they will be playing near where you live. You can also check this information through the point of sales for the tickets. That might be the venue/concert arena or a ticket outlet (like Ticketmaster -

I'm not sure who gave you the idea to "steal" better seats by buying cheap tickets and then moving to the front, but you can get busted and thrown out of shows for doing stuff like that so I wouldn't try it. Especially if you don't want the money you spend on your ticket to go to waste. It would be really dumb to spend money to see a band you really like and then get thrown out before you see them, just because you tried to "butt in line" (which is basically what your doing). Yes, people sometimes get away with it, but those people are jerks who are just stealing something they didn't pay for - a better seat.

Many times you may find that shows take place at venues where there is General Admission, which usually means you will be standing in an open area in front of the stage, so that often makes it easier to get a good spot to see the band. Everybody pays the same price to stand/sit in this area, so it's sort of a first come, first serve basis once the venue's doors are open for the show. It helps to get to these kind of shows early and get yourself a good spot.

My advice is figure out what bands you like are actually touring in your area and decide which one you want to see the most, then just see if you can afford it. Until you have some more information about what band is actually possible for you to go and see, no one here is going to be able to answer most of your questions.

Hope this helped some! Good luck with your first concert experience!

Where do you live?
The Jonas Brothers have a tour date in Puerto Rico, but you may not live near there.
Cobra Starship is not currently touring to my knowledge. Neither is Finger Eleven or Maroon 5. Franz Ferdinand is touring, in Asia, Australia, and Europe.
Unless you live in Europe, Asia, or Australia, good luck seeing Franz Ferdinand, I've wanted to see them for years but they haven't come here to the United States, really. If you do live in Europe, Asia, or Australia, good luck seeing some of the other bands. :P
Cobra Starship was just on tour late last year, and I really wanted to see them but I couldn't. Their concert would've cost about $15, but that depends on the venue sometimes.
Cobra Starship and The Academy Is... were on Warped Tour this past year, as well, I saw Cobra Starship there :P

THE ACADEMY IS... is currently touring!

Check the tour dates to see if they'll be in your area, and what the price and venue is if they are.
In general, ticket prices vary depending on popularity of the artist and venue. So, seeing the Jonas Brothers, Finger Eleven, or Maroon 5 would be more expensive than Cobra Starship or The Academy Is...

As for seats, if I were you, I wouldn't even want seats, I would be standing the whole time anyway cheering and singing at the top of my lungs. I would want to be as close as possible with the expense in mind. Also, bands like The Academy Is... and Cobra Starship often go to venues where there aren't seat assignments, and not many seats to speak of anyway.

As for buying tickets at the door, that's for some less popular bands, only if the venue isn't in a popular location, or if it isn't very limited in the number of tickets. It's always better to buy ahead of time to ensure tickets, but if you want to take a chance, that may work out for you some time.

Also, for the pit, there usually is one, but timing, band popularity, and strength in pushing through people are major factors for getting to the front. The very front near the stage is safe from moshing, but the concerts you want to go to probably won't have much of that. You have to stay by the front of the stage to maintain your spot, not leaving to anywhere between bands, getting to the front at a reasonable time before the band you want to see is there.

Any comments or questions for me, contact me. :D

It really depends on the act and the venue. Bigger acts can start around 50 dollars or more. Smaller acts can cost around twenty. If it is general admission then you can work your way to the front because they don't have seat assigned.

well, first of all, the best concerts are the ones that don't have seats. I saw my favorite band live for 28 dollars, and since there were no seats, i got to go straight to the front (i was in the second row, and i got to touch the lead singer!) I suggest not seeing the Jonas Brothers because i heard all their shows have seats, and they're really expensive, plus when you tell people you saw them live, they'll just laugh at you. (sorry, that's just how it is). and the more popular the band is, the more expensive.

Always get Floor tickets if possible aka standing room only... And you will pay anywhere from $25 to around $150 for a good show that is sold out.
