NOT for TV sets they don't.....

They MIGHT work on Refrigerators since the plugs just shut off power to the fridge during the 0 Volt to 70 volt Rise and Fall of AC power....

It's an TRIAC with a zener diode to turn it on....acts like a switch and kicks the Triac on when it hits 70 volts allow 70 to 169 volts of Peak to Peak power to hit that motor....

Eventually I would think that START UP cap on the fridge would die from that energy saving trick that has been out there since the 1960's....

I wonder why NOBODY just builds them into the fridge?? Even Energy Star Fridges don't have them ....

There must be a reason....

And don't you just get that WEIRD feeling like you're getting RIPPED OFF when you watch that commercial?

It's like Popeil's Pocket Fisherman commercial ! Oooooooh I'm at work and I want to fish during lunch ! Ooooooh what am I going to dooooooh ?!
