Went back to it's original 1981 concept and began playing the latest music videos again, 24/7 with the odd concert special now and then.
What if a group of new programmers just took over, ditched everything, and went back to that?
Would you kids watch? ;-)
(Seriously, with cable television and new channels being developed all the time, I'm not sure why they ever had to change MTV's original concept. If MTV wanted to create a bunch of reality shows for teens and young adults, why didn't they create a sister channel just for that?)
Well I'm 29. (Look younger though.) ;-)
I began watching MTV in late 1986/1987 after we got cable. I loved "Remote Control" (ok, probably one of their first TV shows, but at least it was still music-related).

Look up the user "dalekenbuck" on YouTube! He's got some awesome vintage MTV programming. He's got an entire day of MTV programming from March 17, 1983, commercials included (amazing)...as well as footage from the first day of programming on August 1, 1981. I don't know how he got a hold of all that stuff. If he taped it off TV it's still in excellent shape.
