Is Oprah magnanimous in person? I'm always leery of her because she seems too power hungry?

The fact that Oprah actually had the power to negotiate the 2012 Olympics for Chicago makes me mistrustful of all the altruistic things she does. She never does anything philanthropic without a bevy of news cameras in front of her to broadcast it to the world. And she can never get enough opulence in her material posessions. Is she an egregious capitalist who uses altruism to boost her public persona or wonderfully kind hearted?

I think Oprah is to be admired, she came from a very poor background and everything she has she has worked hard for. I do think that she is a kind hearted person, but very tough in her business world.
