I have connected my laptop to my television but..?

i put it on a setting by mistake and now there is nothing coming up on my laptop screen other than a smaller version of my background, and my television says "invalid settings: cannot connect" please help

if you right click on your desktop and click display properties then settings tab, you should be able to change your screen resolution you just have to find the one that will work on your tv
