i bought straight fit jeans thinking it was skinny jeans :(

Just return them ! It is a lot of hassle to change them .. you could cut up the leg and then sew it back together so the pants were skinny? That would probably look weird though. If you can't return them, sell them on eBay and buy a new pair.
