I was looking forward to seeing Oprah's favorite things show this year, but she didn't have a favorite things show this year,I got so worried about why she didn't have her favorite things show this year(2008)
She has one last year and I LOVED what she gave out(To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 15 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

She DID have a favorite things show, but it wasn't about giving away big gifts like she normally does. She focused on giving away things that were cost friendly since we are going through a recession! I thought that was pretty responsible of her!

i love the stuff (and more than that, watching the audience FLIP OUT), so i decided to look it up, and here's what i found...
from wikipedia:
"The show aired November 26, 2008, one day before Thanksgiving; however, it did not follow the usual format of lavish gifts. Instead, owing to the nation's economic difficulties (Winfrey said that she could not in good conscience give away lavish gifts in such a time of economic trouble), this year's episode would be entitled "How to Have the Thriftiest Holiday Ever!" (described as Oprah's Favorite Things... with a twist!) All of the giveaways cost "next to nothing" and emphasized do-it-yourself craftsmanship. Because of the personal nature of many of these gifts, this was the first year that audience members did not receive the actual gifts.
Gift ideas, many of which were submitted by viewers, included:[6]
Gratitude boxes, filled with notes of gratitude from various people
"Oprah's Holiday Hits" compilation album (given away for free on the show Web site)
Treasure boxes filled with mementos
Hot chocolate cones
Regifts (a.k.a. "swap parties"), exchanging unwanted used items of your own for others' used items you would be more likely to use
Gift baskets that include fruits and vegetables from your own garden
Time with a loved one
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, a book by David Wroblewski "
there are some great ideas, but i'm not even going to lie, i am bummed that i won't get to see anyone cry over a pair of slippers this year.

With the economy so bad, Oprah chose not to do the favorite things show this year. It was thoughtful of her because a lot...and I mean a lot... of people just can't afford to buy the wonderful gifts she usually gives out to her audience.
I like everything she gives away in her past shows - the shower/bath scrub was nice and the electronics.....wow!

She is having a Favorite Things show this year. Instead of giving away really expensive things she is giving away her bargain favorite things. One thing she gives away is worth $6.00. I think it is coming on one day this week.
