I do not believe they feel they are acting as "false idols" but those who will the love of God into the world.
I'm really lost on all of this.
I admire the above and their teachings...find, peace, love and contentment in them as well.
Damnation really gets me "hung up."

I like Oprah, I find her "likeable," and I think I would enjoy hanging out with her. I don't get into new age spirituality, however, because I think it ignores the elephant in the room -- namely, the darkness that lies within all of us. You cannot focus entirely on the sunshine and bunny rabbits and live a fulfilled life. You have to confront the ugliness and deal with it.

It's just, nicey new age thought, i am not given to it really, but if it is any consolation, I would trust Oprah more than any of those slimebags on bible TV, at least she isn't trying to lighten my wallet

I think if the basic message is honesty, compassion, humility, and charity, then the messenger can't be evil.

Oprah is a "nice lady" I guess.....
But even she would tell you
She is NOT Jesus Christ!

Eckhart Tolle is an enlightened human being.

I don't watch Oprah, Tolle's teachings are not new and come short of what we need to function in the real world although I realize the value of calming yourself into the "now" but after that you really need to get off your duff and do something productive in life.

I like Oprah. I have never understood when people can't stand her. I mean, no one is perfect, but she frequently gives to charities and she seems to really care about humanity. Why hate her? I don't watch her show very often, but when I do it is usually enjoyable. I DID read Ekhart Tolle's A New Earth. I loved it and actually want to read it again. I am an atheist, but a somewhat spiritual one.
