Yesterday WWE informed all of their announcers this week to refer to talent as "entertainers" instead of wrestlers or even Superstars effective immediately.
In addition to this new rule, Vince McMahon has also banned the use of the term "sports entertainment" and is now just being referred to as "entertainment."

I read that that had something to do with taxes being cheaper if they're entertainment instead of sports. Seems stupid to me.

It is stupid on Mcmahon's part.
He is a millionaire and he doesn't want to pay taxes if he considers it a sport.

THE BOTTOM LINE!!!

I read this last night. From what I read a reason is to get WWE to be classified as an entertainment event, as opposed to a sporting event. They are doing this to try to take power away from the Athletic Commissions in some states, to keep WWE from paying taxes for their events.
Also, the Georgia athletic commission is looking towards making stricter restrictions on the wrestling industry because of the Chris Benoit incident. If they are considered just an entertainment company the athletic commission cannot impose the restrictions on them since they will be considered an entertainment event and not a sporting event.
In all reality, I think the Georgia athletic commission situation is what is the main focus of the WWE for doing this.

THERE ARE TOO MANY CHANGES. So much changes that are happening in the "WWE Universe". All of this is simply getting annoying, and for what to cut a LITTLE bit of money from SOME states.

Yes it is mostly because of the Georgia athletic commission but it also has to do with Oregon and a couple other states. The WWE used to put on shows in Oregon on a regular basis but have not done so in years. That is because Oregon has to many rules on any type of sporting event, even sports entertainment. This way the WWE will be able to do shows again there.
I still don't like it but there is not much anyone can do about it.

Its too escape the regulations of being a sport...if its an entertainment company they can do whatever the **** they want
plus i think it is so people can stop saying that they aren't athletes and just call them entertainers (which is what they are)

WWE sucks and they are all about entertainment and not wrestling

Well the reason for this (as you will know) is as follows:
"The decision is part of an organized effort towards getting WWE re-classified as an entertainment touring event as opposed to a legitimate sporting event. The hope internally within WWE is that by doing this it will take the power away from the Athletic Commissions in certain states and keep the company from having to pay taxes on their events."
So that means Mcmahon is worried about losing his money! It was really a stupid decision of the WWE to give away all that money during the million dollar mania.
BTW, Does that make THE ROCK, The Most Electrifying Man In Entertainment????
