He is half white you are correct. But perhaps you have no knowledge of race history in this country, and the old one drop rule.

If this was 1950, Obama would not be served in segregated resatuarants, denied to stay in segregated hotels, and so on and so forth. Unfortunately, it is how people perceive you physically that is often the way that they treat you.

So basicaly there is a 400 years of precedent in this country for Obama to be correctly identified as "black" or African-American.

He's the dude, playing the dude, disguised as another dude. He has really never lived the life of an African American in this country. That may be why he went to south Chicago as a community organizer to see how his life might have been. Same way with the church. I don't think he knows how he should feel as a black person having lived in Hawaii and attending Harvard. He has an identity crisis going on.
