No it would not be. I saw it and its an okay movie, but not deserving of all the records it has set. If Hollywood knew how much money they would make, they would have killed off a star actor along time ago, trust me ;)

no, and its a shame. and its like the producers are cashin in on his death. he has suddenly become the main face of the film - over bat man. just the way it is i know, but its still a shame.

I personally don't think so. I really like Batman Begins and was excited for Dark Knight but never expected it to get as much publicity that it is getting. There is one girl on here who says that she has gone every night since it came out because she misses Heath so much... what??

Sadly, I agree that it wouldn't be quite as big. I think it would still be a huge success, but not nearly what it is now.

Yes, I think so. The reason is, the filmmakers whetted the audience's appetites at the end of Batman Begins with the Joker's card. They were also curious to know how the filmmakers planned to make their version of the Joker. Audiences were interested after seeing the various film trailers earlier this year.

Yes it would be as successful. After the first movie was made, there was a lot of anticipation and hype for the next movie, which is cause for this one's success. However, I think the death of Heath Ledger may be the cause for all the academy award talk

Probably not, that really contributed to there being so much hype about it beforehand, and many people who had never seen Batman Begins (the movie that came before The Dark Knight) went out to see The Dark Knight because it was Heath Ledger's last performance. That's not to say that it wouldn't have been successful, there's plenty of people who were dying to see it before Heath Ledger died (such as myself) and people who like the superhero movies in general, but there would have been nowhere near as wide of an audience as there has been.

I've found the hype around this (mainly from the people who don't actually know anything about the film, or Batman Begins) really off putting. Nobody seems to criticise it because Heath Ledger died. Most of the people who have seen The Dark Knight but not Batman Begins are seeing it because of Heath Ledger, so it definately would not have been. Personally, I don't see why people find appeal in it now that an actor is dead if they didn't before.

its a shame because I watched it today at the cinemas and there were people there just to watch it because it was the biggest film out, because of all the hype of heath ledgers death.

some people didnt even like heath ledger or know anything about batman,

that really annoyed me. why do people have to just jump on the bandwagon of the latest good thing?

I would like to think that if Heath hadnt died it would have been as successful because of his blinding performance as the Joker ( and it really was a blinding performance) but sadly it probably wouldnt have, which sucks.

No the media has brought a lot of attention to his death and that has brought in a lot of money for the movie.

yes,it would've been successful, its just cause Heath died its attracted more audience,i would still go and see it just because he was in it, he was one of my favourite actors,so most of people just went to see the film just to see his acting.I wish he was ALIVE,he was so insecure in himself,so he could have seen that everyone is so amassed at what a performance he gave RIP Heath xxxix

I wanted to see it before Heath died and Batman is a popular charicter and lots of People like the Joker so it probably still would have been just has popular even if heath hadn't died but i think his death hype it up a lot. witch i am amazed it suprass the hype.

Yes, because Batman Begins was pretty successful and the movie was already highly anticipated.

After all, it is a sequel.
