Jack's Joker was better for his Batman setting (light, not too dark and quite comical). Heath's Joker was better for his Batman setting (very dark, manupilative, diabolical evil genius). They each played the character in the direction the director visualized for the type of movie he wanted. But my preference is the more recent version of Batman. Wasn't too crazy about the other movie series.

Heath and Jack played such different rolls.
The psycopath joker wouldn't fit into the good, old, cheesy batman flicks, and the &quot;killer uncle&quot; joker wouldn't fit into the new series.

I have to say that I like this movie overall better than the original Batman, so maybe that's why I'm tempted to say Heath.
But Jack is still good!

Jack Nicholson wasn't even a decent joker what the ****, Heath played his role so well i didn't even know he was in the movie! He portrayed an insane person so well it scared him....scared him so bad he couldn't sleep at night. Portrayed him so well he needed pills to sleep, and in the end led to his death. Best joker hands down. R.I.P. Heath Ledger.

i dont think u can compare the two. jack was perfect in his time and the time of batman. he indulged the character as the writers/directors/producers wanted. he became their joker, playful n dangerous in one. today heath became the joker of 2008 as the writers/directors/producers wanted. he became the joker as did jack, but he became todays joker. eerie, creepy, dangerous with a sense of humor. i look at it as they elevated the joker from when jack played him, consider heath his son in the joker life. Both was amazing joker's, they both lived their character to make it the best it could be. I say Jack Nicholson was best as the Joker then and Heath Ledger was best as the Joker now.
